Environmentally compassionate hair products
As well as being a proud member of the Green Salon Collective, we are also pushing towards sustainability through our choice of salon products. When looking for a new product range for the salon we wanted something natural and with packaging that was already recycled as well as a company that was doing a bit more for the environment.
We currently stock and use Kevin Murphy products as we aim to become a more sustainable salon, and we believe in their philosophy.
Kevin Murphy use ocean waste packaging that is already recycled or biodegradable, and use essential oils instead of parabans. Kevin Murphy has become known for high quality performance skincare inspired products that work for both stylists and clients at the Courtyard. We believe this truly matters and our customers believe it too.

We recycle the unrecyclable…
We are proud to have joined forces with Green Salon Collective – the original authority on salon sustainability in the UK and Ireland.
In the hairdressing industry, there is naturally a lot of wastage – hair colourings, used foils, colour tubes, and more plastic and paper than most other shops on the High Street.
At the Courtyard, we have recycled our paper, plastic and glass for the past year. However, we felt we wanted and needed to do more. And that’s where the Green Salon Collective comes in. Being open in the current climate, we are required to use so much more plastic (and PPE) than normal – and dispose of it after each use in many cases.
Joining forces with Green Salon Collective now ensures that what they recycle, we now recycle – be it colour waste ,PPE, foil or metal, hair or paper, as well as the plastic and glass we were already recycling. We are very pleased that we now have hardly any waste after recycling.
Clients are really on-board and enthusiastic about this and are pleased to know that they are not just getting a hair style, but they are also doing their bit towards helping the environment too. We charge a £1 voluntary fee to go towards our Green Recycling initiative.
